Cairo Harris

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Cairo Harris serves as Communications Manager at Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle (LBS). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where she served as SGA President and NAACP President, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in International Relations at Morgan State University.

Her academic work examines the impact of China on the Black diaspora, focusing on whether Black sovereignty can exist outside of Eurocentric models. This aligns with LBS’s worldview: that the enslavement of African people and the colonization of Africa were acts of war against Black humanity, and that true freedom requires sovereignty and power to protect and defend our interests.
Cairo also collaborated with the contributing authors of Why the Police Should Be Trained by Black People to curate the cover art for the groundbreaking textbook, which brings together scholars, law enforcement professionals, and community voices to reimagine policing from a Black perspective.

In addition to her creative and academic work, she has supported Baltimore nonprofits and charter schools, advocating for youth and returning citizens. At LBS, she applies this blend of scholarship, community engagement, and creative practice to strengthen communications that connect local struggles to global contexts and advance the mission of revolutionary pan-african nationalism.
